His research examines how sustainability and innovation transform global industries, with a focus on shipping and ports. He explores how strategic choices shape the resilience, security, and environmental performance of maritime systems. His work also addresses emerging challenges at the intersection of maritime security, climate risk, biodiversity, and migration, analysing how global trade and transport infrastructures adapt, for example, to geopolitical tensions, sea-level rise, and migration by sea.
