
Jorge Ivan Contreras-Cardeno
Principal Consultant - Resilience and Critical Infrastructure Protection

Jorge Ivan Contreras-Cardeno is an electrical engineer, specialized in management, with an MSc in Techno-anthropology. Currently, he works for the Danish Institute for Fire and Security Technology as the Principal Consultant in Resilience for Critical Infrastructure Protection. He has 25 years of interdisciplinary experience across both the public and private sectors. His expertise includes leading digitalization initiatives, developing and implementing public policies in e-government and e-procurement, and advising on organizational transformations.
He has managed projects of national interest in his home country and, in recent years at DBI, he has led the Power to X team, a key area for Denmark’s green energy transition. He also played an active role in conceptualizing and establishing the Resilience Center Denmark in collaboration with Denmark’s seven GTS institutes. Jorge is a skilled communicator and facilitator with strong abilities in stakeholder engagement, policy design, and innovation. His journey from academia to applied research demonstrates adaptability and dedication, ultimately earning him the 2023 Teacher of the Year award from Aalborg University.
