Dr. Dimitrios Dalaklis joined WMU in the summer of 2014, upon completion of a twenty-six years distinguished career with the Hellenic Navy (HN). Having spent numerous years at sea, his expertise revolves around safety and security issues, including topics under the maritime education and training agenda. He is currently leading the Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration (MSEA) specialization. At the same time, he has maintained a very strong interest in developments relating to the wider Arctic region; his vast experience on Arctic safety issues paved the way for his designation as the University of the Arctic (UArctic) Chair in Search and Rescue (SAR).
